Experienced Farm Worker Progressive Dairy Enterprise

Robotic Dairy Farm Cheshire (Near Knutsford)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated individual to join our progressive dairy farming business near Knutsford, Cheshire.

We operate a high-yielding robotic dairy herd of approximately 100 Holstein cows plus followers, averaging around 10,000 litres per cow, and are proud Tesco-aligned milk producers. Our focus is on excellent animal welfare, herd performance, genetics, modern farming practices and continual improvement.

This is a hands-on role involving livestock care, machinery operation, field work and farm maintenance. However, we are not simply looking for a farm worker. We are seeking an ambitious individual who wishes to develop their career within a progressive dairy farming business and become involved in the wider management and future direction of the enterprise.

Reporting directly to the Herd Manager, this position has been created with development and progression in mind. Whilst the successful candidate will be involved in the day-to-day practical operation of the farm, they will also have the opportunity to develop their knowledge of herd performance, breeding, genetics, robotic milking systems and wider farm management.

We are looking for someone who wants to progress, take on additional responsibility and become a key part of the future development of the business.

Previous dairy farming experience is essential. Experience with robotic milking systems would be advantageous but is not essential, as training can be provided.

Daily & Routine Duties

Feeding livestock.

Scraping and bedding livestock accommodation.

Monitoring livestock health and welfare.

Assisting with calving and youngstock management when required.

General animal husbandry.

Monitoring herd performance and identifying issues.

General yard duties and upkeep.

Supporting the day-to-day operation of the robotic dairy system.

Field & Machinery Work

Tractor driving.

Slurry and tanking operations.

Buckraking and grassland management.

Mowing and feeding operations.

Telehandler operation.

Machinery maintenance and daily checks.

General farm maintenance and repairs.

The Successful Candidate Will:

Have previous dairy farming experience.

Be confident working independently and taking responsibility for daily tasks.

Have experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery.

Have a good understanding of livestock husbandry and animal welfare.

Have an interest in herd performance, breeding and genetics.

Be capable of carrying out basic machinery and farm maintenance.

Have exceptionally high standards and strong attention to detail.

Be enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking.

Possess good communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Accommodation

Single-person accommodation is available if required. The accommodation is situated in a nearby village, providing convenient access to local amenities whilst remaining close to the farm.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must either live locally or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance of the farm.
