We are looking for an enthusiastic, open-minded and competent new manager for our purpose-built calf rearing unit, in West Yorkshire. Our current manager is leaving to travel around NZ, and so we are looking for a new person to take on this role.
We are a fully integrated beef farming company, who rear beef X calves (from 1 to 6 months of age) on our own farms. We operate to very high standards of nutrition and biosecurity, and aim to produce reared calves who are capable of exceptional performance on the farms they move to. We are involved with a number of companies, in conducting their trial work, specifically around nutrition and genetics. We collect a lot of performance data, and review every batch against targets, as well as providing regular feedback to the dairy farmers that supply us. We work closely with an independent nutritionist, and our vet, and strive for continuous improvements in both performance and costs.
We have a young, well trained and very capable team in place on the farm, and are looking for a manager who can support their needs, as well as the calves and the wider business. The ideal candidate will have some calf/ beef and previous management experience, as well as great attention to detail and a conscientious attitude. We are happy to put in place any additional training that may be required, and encourage continuous development through attendance at conferences/ courses etc. and interaction with our advisors and trial partners.
The owners of the farm do not live on site (however, are regularly on the farm, and very involved), and so we require someone who will take full responsibility for rotas, staffing and animal/ people welfare.
We will offer an attractive salary, and the option of a 2/3 bedroom house on the farm for the right candidate.
