Unit Manager - Remote Unit - 450 Cows - North Devon

We have an exciting new contract vacancy for a self-motivated and experienced individual to take on the day-to-day care of a high input herd of Holstein Friesians in West Devon, half-way between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy. The 450 cows calve year-round and are fed TMR, housed in cubicles and milked twice daily. The owner, who lives some distance away, only acquired this unit recently and is in the process of modernizing it with considerable investment planned.

You will be responsible for all aspects of running the herd on a daily basis including staff management (team in place), milking, feeding, calving, herd health, foot care, breeding and record keeping.

There is a 4-bedroom farmhouse on farm, currently undergoing considerable modernization and refurbishment, which will be offered free from rent and council tax, along with a regular time off and a salary to reflect the importance of the role.
