A great opportunity has arisen to join us on our high performing dairy farm near Bicester, Oxfordshire.
Our herd of 225 high yielding Jerseys are milked through a 24/24 herringbone parlour fitted with ADF, auto id and auto shedding. They are fully housed, TMR fed and bedded on mattresses.
The dairy has undergone significant investment over the last five years including the cow housing and new milking parlour along with heat and health monitoring systems. Our focus for the herd is to continue with high levels of production and also a high quality of milk whilst maintaining high levels of animal welfare.
The Role
The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
•Whilst experience is highly preferable training can be provided to enhance the skill set of somebody matching all other requirements and characteristics needed.
•High animal welfare standards.
• High stockmanship with an ability to spot sick animals with and also without the use of technology.
•Happy to follow pre-existing protocols and help with creating new ones as necessary.
•Good record keeping.
•Full driving license is an advantage.
•High attention to detail with passion for high yielding cows.
•Calm and quiet whilst milking and handling stock.
•Punctual and reliable.
•Experience with new born calves and fresh cows.
• Able to work on their own and also in a team.
•AI and foot trimming preferable but not essential. (Training can be offered to the right candidate.)
•Have a good sense of humour essential for dairy farming.
