Exciting new role as a dairy assistant.

We are looking for an exceptional dairy assistant to join our team and assist our Dairy Manager to care for, manage and ensure the health of the Kingsbeck pedigree Jersey herd of 280 cows.

With a housed all year-round calving herd, milked on robots and focused on maximising milk from forage, this opportunity would suit a skilled stockperson who is keen to learn more about Jersey nutrition, health and milking.

To apply you will have an extensive knowledge of dairy farming and an eagerness to learn. In addition, you will have a can-do approach to all problems, an inability to walk past a job that needs doing, a team player ethic, and a conscientious attitude. It is desirable that you will have a working experience of estates and multipurpose farms.

Your general day to day tasks will include, but will not be limited to;

•Cow welfare

•Admin and data entry using computers & the robot

•Maintaining Robots

•Looking after the health and well-being of Calves & young stock

•Feeding the herd

You must have

•Initiative

•Stockmanship skills

•Good organisational skills & administrative awareness.

•Good people skills and a willingness to work as part of a wider team.

•A UK drivers licence & Telehandler certificate

•The right to work in the UK

Preferred skills; or an eagerness to learn as full training will be provided for the right candidate.

•ATV certificate

•A.I. proficiency

•Hoof maintenance & welfare

•Administering medication & all associated record keeping

All applicants must be willing to work anti-social hours, with possible call outs through the night, and understand that on occasion you will be required to work past times you might normally finish. Applicants must also understand that this is an estate with many facets and on occasion a successful applicant may have to lend a hand in an alternative part of the estate.

We'll provide a home to suit your personal requirement. Where possible we will provide an extra room. Eg if u have 2 dependents we'll guarantee a 3 bed family home but will aim to give u 4. The town of Biggar is nearby & the local school is lovely.
