Calf Rearer job - Scotland
Dairy, Beef
UK
DG2
Scotland
Description

Our senior calf rearer, is returning to Canada in August. We are looking for her replacement now, to allow for a good handover and training opportunity, alongside our calf rearing team.

We are a large-scale beef farming operation, covering all aspects of beef farming from calf rearing, suckler cows through to finishing so there is opportunity to gain experience in different areas. We have a particular focus on animal health and maximising production from grass.

This particular role is for a competent and experienced calf rearer to join our team on our purpose-built calf rearing unit or perhaps a couple looking for a new venture.

Duties will include all aspects of calf rearing processing new calves, vaccinating, feeding, bedding and general stock handling. The ability to work as part of a team and attention to detail are critical here.

Within the calf unit, we are involved in animal health projects, so competence, interest and willingness are key attributes.

We have a reasonably young, large, and dynamic existing team with an excellent record of staff retention.

This role is based in Crocketford, 10 miles from Dumfries and the market town of Castle Douglas. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside, coastline, and history lots to explore in your time off.

A two bedroom cottage will be available for the right person.

If you think you might be the right person to take on this role, please send us your CV.
