An experienced person is required to take day to day charge of our calf rearing unit in mid Devon .
We rear in excess of 1500angus calves a year ,taking them through to a slaughter weight of 600kg.
The calves are trough fed using a milk taxi with concentrate hoppers filled by auger.
Attention to detail is very important, experience in calf rearing is preferred however, help will be given as this position is part of a dynamic team producing high quality grass/forage based Angus beef.
Previous experience of New Zealand grazing would be an advantage as all cattle are grazed.
The rearing facilities are newly purpose built with follow on sheds similar. All cattle are weighed monthly with emphasis on technology and productivity improving devices.
This is a permanent position and would suit someone wishing to advance their career .

We are rearing angus cross calves through to slaughter on a grass forage based system. We currently take in batches of 80 calves from a single source every three weeks. A team member is required to take day to day charge of the calf rearing including feeding, bedding, treatments and weighing with other livestock and general farm work on the farm as well. We have a small team who undertake most of our farm operations in hand. The farm is approximately 2000 ac with a small area of arable crops rotated around forage area.
