Description

Assistant herdsperson/general farm worker needed on our family dairy farm. We have a pedigree herd of Holsteins milked by 2 x Lely robots. We need someone who can check the robots/computer and take the required action. Generally assist with the cows from calving to routine treatments. Foot trimming/AI an advantage. Daily routine will include brushing off cubicles and scrapping out. Some basic tractor work i.e. slurry tanking, muck hauling and TMR. Help with calves and youngstock. Plus routine farm maintenance i.e. fencing.

You will be working as part of our small friendly team. This job will be what you make it! The more you put into it the more we will involve you and further your interest and progression. We have a lovely herd of high yielding classified cows and would love to share our knowledge about breeding with a genuinely interested person. We like to take part in herd competitions at national level. Attention to detail is everything here. This job is for a natural stockperson.

We will require references. We are sorry we cannot provide accommodation, but being close to the town of Sherborne and the large village of Milborne Port gives you the opportunity to rent or find lodgings locally. For the right person we would consider some financial assistance towards housing.
