We are a fourth generation mixed family farm with a solid 100 year old foundation. After a period of succession, investment and diversification, the farm is in an excellent position to continue to thrive without being reliant on subsidy.
Our arable, sheep, cattle, tourism and biomass enterprises have been refined to suit the 1850 acres of owned land. The diversity of the farm maximises self-sufficiency, which we believe to be one of our biggest strengths for the future.
Our mixed arable and livestock rotation means that soils are in good health and we continue to focus on advances to further improve our infrastructure, soil health, efficiency and self-sufficiency.
We grow Winter Wheat, Winter Barley, Winter Oats, Oil Seed Rape, Spring Barley and Pea and Oat arable silage within a 9 year arable rotation, followed by a three year grass lay.
We run 1100 Lleyn ewes in a self-replacing flock with a well refined genetic improvement process in place. We also run 140 Angus/Sim spring calving suckler cows. All sheep and cattle offspring are finished on farm with minimal external inputs. We also grow turnips, kale, grass silage and hay for winter livestock feed.
We operate a modern and efficient fleet of machinery utilising GPS steering, variable rate applications and reduced cultivation.
The farm will be supported by 3 full time team members, including an arable foreman, livestock foreman and a general farm worker. Whilst each will have their own responsibilities, the mix of farm enterprises requires regular cross over and a team approach. We also work with specialist contractors for work that can't be completed in house.
From June 2022 we requires a self-motivated, responsible, organised and competent arable and machinery operator/foreman with excellent attention to detail. The role will involve close communication with the manager and day to day responsibility for arable and machinery operations. Supporting other farm enterprises and team members is also key. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take a step up in their career and be responsible for day to day farm operations.
The role could include but is not limited to the below, however, there is the ability for the role to be adapted to suit the correct team members:
