Description

This modern Broiler Unit is based in Oxfordshire and is part of a family business comprising commercial office and industrial units, arable, beef and poultry operations together with a biomass plant making use of the poultry litter.

We have an immediate and temporary role for someone to work on this poultry unit, maintaining the health and welfare of the chicks in our care. This must reflect best practice and comply with required standards. You will work alongside the Poultry Manager and must be capable of working independently.

For the right person, this could lead to a permanent position.

The Poultry Unit adheres to the highest standards of bio-security. To this end, we have a shower-in/shower-out policy.

This job requires the holder to work alternate weekends and to be on call on alternate nights when sufficiently trained.

 

Tasks include:


  • Ensuring that birds have feed and water and that the environment within which they are kept is suitable with regard to ventilation, lighting, etc.

  • Removing dead, sick and lame birds from the growing space daily as a minimum

  • Conducting sufficient checks on the birds to meet the requirements of the business and the relevant farm assurance schemes

  • Reporting any breakdowns or incidences as necessary and carrying out repairs where possible
