Role Overview:
You will manage the day-to-day operations of Westerlands farming enterprise, ensuring best practice in regenerative agriculture while aligning with our wider estate vision. The role requires strong practical livestock farming experience and knowledge (sheep&cattle), leadership and a passion for soil health and ecology.
Key Responsibilities:
•Farm & Land Management
oManage daily farm operations with an emphasis on livestock husbandry
oGeneral estate maintenance and assistance with other parts of the business
oFollow regen practices to improve soil health, biodiversity and water cycle
oDevelop grazing systems, cover crops and other soil-building initiatives
oMonitor health via soil testing, biodiversity surveys and productivity metrics
oManage machinery, equipment and farm infrastructure safely and efficiently
•Planning & Administration
oPrepare annual farm plans and budgets in line with estate goals
oRecord and report on farm outputs, soil health and ecological impact
oStay up to date with regenerative farming research and industry developments
Skills & Experience:
•Proven experience managing all aspects of flock and herd
•Knowledge and enthusiasm for regenerative farming systems
•Strong leadership and management skills
•Practical competence with farm machinery and infrastructure
•Good communication skills, engaging with other staff, guests and wider community
•A collaborative mindset with an openness for innovation and progress
