Business Background:
We are a family run, mixed farming business, based in Oxfordshire comprising a modern poultry operation, biomass plant making use of the poultry litter, arable and beef enterprises plus commercial office and industrial units. We are looking for someone with experience of working with poultry to fill this vacancy. Overview of the Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic team member and experienced poultry or livestock worker to look after the health and welfare of birds and run the poultry unit in collaboration with the Poultry Manager. The chicks arrive at our unit at a day old and leave at around 38 days. You would be responsible for their growth and wellbeing during their stay as well as keeping the poultry unit clean, well maintained and fully operational.
The job requires you to work every other weekend and respond to alarm calls on alternate nights during the crop.
Your Main Responsibilities (alongside the Poultry Manager):
Ensuring that the birds have feed and water and that the environment adheres to required standards
Keeping the alarms in working order and responding to alarm calls in a timely manner
Ensuring the removal of dead, sick and lame birds from the growing space
Maintaining daily checks and records
Managing feed for the Poultry Unit which includes driving a lorry and collecting wheat
Reporting and resolving any breakdowns, faults on equipment or incidences as necessary and in a timely manner
There may be an opportunity to be involved in other activities on the farm when time allows

Qualifications and Experience:
GCSEs in Maths & English as pre-requisite; NVQ or degree level in Agriculture and related areas
Proven track record of working with poultry and an interest in agriculture
Ideally completion of Poultec training stage 2 (copies of certificates to be provided)
Ideally up to date Poultry Passport to be paid for at employee's own expense
