We contract manage 6 dairy farms across Shropshire and Cheshire. We specialise in low input grass-based systems to achieve profitability for farm owners, whilst maintaining high animal welfare standards.
We are looking to recruit a new team member for our spring calving herd near Much Wenlock, Shropshire.
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the herd manager in the day to day operation of our 300 spring calving cows. The herd is calved from 5th February in a 12 week block, with all cows dry by 24th December. Animal welfare, and health and safety are at the forefront of our daily routine, this role has the potential for the successful applicant to develop further in their own abilities through training provided.
The team requires an individual to take on responsibilities that will include
•Regular milking of the cows in a Waikato 24:48 parlour, which will have Auto cluster removers installed
•Basic farm maintenance
•Some tractor work, including yard scraping and feeding with telehandler
•Some youngstock / drystock work
A sense of humour, flexibility, common sense, and an ability to work in a team is an essential part of the role. A strong work ethic and ability to maintain standards is required during the busy calving period. In return we offer 35 days holiday plus a day off per week from July January. Salary will not be a limiting factor for the right person. Training is given in all aspects of the job, and we have a great track record of progression within the wider enterprise. We will also offer accommodation close to the farm and this can be tailored to the needs of the applicant.
