An exciting opportunity has risen on a progressive dairy farm on the outskirts of Reading, milking 250 cows through 5 robots. The business has invested a lot in the last 12 months with the aim to maximise animal health and welfare as well as creating an environment that is enjoyable and easy to work in.

We are still going through an exciting development with all aspects of dairy farming being reviewed with an emphasis on grazing with robots and slurry system.

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Herds Manager with room to progress further in the near future. Within this role there would be a range of responsibilities varying from feeding and animal welfare to managing the farm when the Farm Manager isn't there. All aspects of dairy farming (apart from physically milking) will be covered within the job with access to plenty of technology.

Job role:

Grazing management for cows and young stock

General day to day stock work

Record keeping with uniform Agri /diary

Robot maintenance

Catching up cows to milk

AI-ing and treatment of cows

Feeding TMR with mixer wagon

Machinery maintenance

Skills:

Passionate and enthusiastic to achieve high standards with the ability to communicate and work well within a team.

Being able to work well with stock

Computer skills and a technical mind to work with robots

Telehandler, AI, Foot trimming (beneficial but not essential)

Full UK driving license
