All day to day tasks involved with cattle management of full grazing pasture fed system. All daily maintenance jobs involved with running an estate.

Herdsman for 1 year completing all day to day tasks involved with milking and cattle health / management

During 1 weeks work experienceI learnt how to carry out many tasks. These are milking using a 50 cow rotary parlour, treatment and injection of calves, feeding calves, calf despudding, stock handling of calves and cows and bottle feeding of calves.

3 week of early morning milking where I helped milk the herd of Holstein Friesian cows on a 60 point rotary parlour.

4 weeks of milking on a 24 aside swing over Waikato parlour. Strip grazing cattle and drying off throughout the time I was there. Jobs I carried out included stock work, moving cattle, maintaining parlour, changing liners, stock handling, checking the cattle, drying off cows, tractor work, scraper tractor use, fencing work and general maintenance.

Farm

2 weeks of relief milking and stockmanship on 17 aside swing over Waikato parlour milking around 200 jersey cattle

Hadlow college

300 mixed ewe flock and 100 Hereford beef cattle.
