I have worked in my present position for the 15 years as shepherd/stockman on an organic farm. Beef cows were housed for calving during the winter months and all sheep lambed outside end of April.
Calves were sold as stores, and lambs sold as fat where possible.

During the winter months I feed the housed cattle with a tractor and feeder wagon. I feed silage bales hence the use of a JCB loader is also used. On the farm I use a quad bike for checking livestock and the quad is used for doing the electric fencing around the 1500 acre estate.
I have worked with stock for the last 25+ years. Sheep and beef on a chalk downland farm in south Wiltshire then in New Zealand before coming back and working with numbers ranging from 750-1000 Welsh Mules. Im my present position Ive been looking after a native herd of North Devon cattle, selling calves at weaning or keeping heifer replacements.
