Shoot - 2019 - Present day
As Gamekeeper I am responsible for rearing up to 30,000 birds including pheasants, partridge and ducks. During my time at another ground, the bag sizes and the number of shoot days have increased with us shooting 37 days this season and breaking all previous shoot records. Since being here I have expanded the rearing facilities, renewed and expanded the release pens and created new and productive drives. I also carried out all the servicing and maintenance on the shoot vehicles.
B_______ Shoot - 2018 2019
I moved to B_______ Shoot in March and started taking clients out roe stalking from the beginning of April until mid-May. Between taking clients out morning and evening I would catch up laying stock and set up the rearing field. I helped with the rearing of 110,000 pheasants, partridge and ducks whilst building new pens and maintaining the old pens around the shoot. On my beat I was responsible for 20,000 head of game which was a mixture of pheasants, partridge and ducks and have achieved really good returns. We completed 80 days which ranged from walked-up to driven days with bags from 50 to 500.
_________ Game Farm - 2017 - 2018
I moved back to this role to manage the game farm and also the commercial shoot attached to the game farm with approximately 20 shoot days.
I regularly checked, fed and moved the cattle and sheep.
Estate (Game Farm) - 2014 - 2017
This role meant that I was responsible for the rearing of 160,000 pheasants and partridge. Whilst also managing a commercial shoot, delivering 35 shoot days a year, with bags between 200 to 500 birds. Whilst in this role I had an under keeper and a rearing field hand, who I worked very closely with. We also would support the local college by allowing students to come and gain work experience.
Having completed 3 years in this role I delivered the best returns that the shoot had seen and set the shoot record.
H_______ Farm - 2013 - 2014
This role meant that I was responsible for setting up the rearing facilities for 6,000 pheasants. This role also meant that I was in charge of 4 pheasant pens on the shoot. Whilst in this role I learnt a lot from the head keeper and proceeded to help him break the shoot records for the year I was there.
B_______ Game Farm - 2010 - 2013
Having gained this role as my first full time gamekeepers' position, I learnt a huge amount. I learnt about mass game rearing and was involved in rearing up to 250,000 poults, including incubation and hatching. Within this position I was in charge of 6 employees throughout the rearing season. Gaining vast amounts of knowledge for the 3 years that I was there. whilst in this position I managed a commercial shoot, shooting 20 days a season. I also serviced and maintained all the shoot vehicles and also checked, fed and moved the cattle and sheep.
