Employment History

Chesham, Buckinghamshire - Assistant Farm Manager - September 2021 to Present

My role here is to support the managing director in the efficient running of the farm's operations. The business is 530ha, consisting of combinable arable cropping and a pedigree Limousin cattle herd. Principle responsibilities within this position involve relief management of farm employees, ensuring all work is carried out to desired timelines and standards. Other responsibilities include general organisation and planning such as liaison with the farm's agronomist, Gatekeeper records, purchasing of inputs and pursuing arable operations such as operating the farms sprayer. Regular, accurate and informative reports are given to the managing director to enable and enhance the farming operation.

Stamford, Lincolnshire - Quadtrac Operator - July 2021 to September 2021

The farm grows 3,000ha of cereals, OSR, pulses, and sugar beet on a range of soil types in and around Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Cambridgeshire. The position involved primary and secondary cultivations along with OSR planting with a Case quadtrac 470. This responsible role required attention to detail, management of my own workload, appropriate decision making and communication to individuals within the farm's operation.

Lincoln, Lincolnshire - Harper Adams Placement - July 2019 to September 2020

This is a large 5,600ha arable estate, growing a range of cereals, root and forage crops. My placement role included fertiliser and liquid digestate applications, triple mowing, quadtrac cultivation operations, cover crop establishment, irrigation, trailer work and maintenance. Throughout my placement I became confident in the use of large machinery, Gatekeeper records and other documentation processes, modern arable technologies and techniques. Working in a large progressive team allowed me to demonstrate my skills such as strong communication, teamwork and leadership responsibilities.

Albrighton, Shropshire - 2018 to 2021 (Employment whilst studying at

Harper Adams University)

During my studies at Harper, I began employment on a mixed 280ha farm near campus. Working there alongside my studies at weekends and holidays allowed me to advance my knowledge. My main roles involved general farm work alongside the arable and livestock enterprises. Whilst managing my own workload some tasks involved working closely with the farm manager. Tasks would include livestock husbandry, grassland management and other associated tasks such as fencing and drainage.

Toddington, Bedfordshire - June 2018 to September 2018

Heathcote is 1200ha arable unit. My main role involved harvest duties and working with the compost enterprise. Tasks entailed carting grain from a 40 ft Class Lexion 770tt back to several large stores, this involved teamwork and communication. Whilst working here I also carried out maintenance, such as drainage and machinery maintenance.

Tadmarton, Oxfordshire - April 2017 to June 2018

The farm is a mixed farming operation. My role involved carrying out a range of seasonal operations from ploughing, mowing, tedding, raking, trailer work etc. During my position I undertook a range of responsible tasks and often worked alone. This role required good organisation skills and communication. Alongside this role many livestock tasks were undertaken such as TMR feeding B&B cattle, livestock husbandry and general upkeep of the farm.

Banbury, Oxfordshire - June 2013 to April 2017

Whilst studying at school I began working at this farm, this farm is mixed, farming about 120ha. During weekends and holidays, I was involved in tasks throughout the farm. During the four years I learnt a lot about agriculture and went onto college to further this. At the age of 13 I began driving machinery and got given more responsibility. Tasks entailed included feeding, TB testing, vaccinations, shearing, haymaking, lambing and calving.
