My time as a ranger involved general site maintenance I.E fixing fences and gates and doing gardening work it also included looking after the fishing boats which meant we would fix the engines and fibre glass the hulls. I was also responsible for stocking the reservoir with fish and organising/running fishing competitions.

I completed my city and guilds basic maintenance and cross cutting chainsaw course while working at Kielder, this was a very important aspect of the role as I frequently carried out this type of work.

I also had to drive plant machinery including a tractor and tele-handler with a number of attachments such as, slurry bowser, forks, plough, grittier and bucket.
