Farming background

I am applying for this role as I have always had a passion and dream to work with sheep, since I was very young and working on my grandads sheep farm in Wales, he has a big farm running over 2000 ewes and I have always loved helping him at any chance I could, going up the valleys on my own at the age of 12 on the ATV with two collies. Because of this passion and love for sheep I then went on to college to learn more and develop my knowledge and experience in farming. Although my main experience has ended up being with dairy and beef, I do have a good amount of knowledge and experience in sheep farming, ranging from lambing, de-crutching and sheering, foot trimming and also dealing with the worst flystrike. Sheep farming has always been of high interest to me, but it is an extremely hard industry to get into when you dont own your own flock.

I am very experienced in TMR feeding, animal health and welfare, all ranges of tractor and telehandler work, grassland management and fencing. To be honest this would be my dream role, I am extremely eager to learn more and get stuck into the industry and the shepherds way of life and would be extremely proud to be an assistant shepherd.

I am eager to work with sheep because I find them remarkably interesting and quirky. I see farming as a way of life not just a job, I also understand how much work goes into everyday farming and the passion which is needed to ensure everything is done to a high standard. I completely have for the industry and am extremely use to the long hours as I am normally up and working by 3am and have been for a very long time. My partner is also a farm vet technician and loves sheep and would love to give a helping hand if needed.

Thank you for taking your time to read this cover letter and my CV and I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind Regards,

Lee
