EXPERIENCE

HOLSTEINS, 480 COWS

2018- PRESENT

Dairy Manager My current role includes aspect involved with

the running of a 480 cow herd and management of 7 full time

staff. During the first 6 months in this role the overall farm

manager was removed and I took on many of their duties along

with those associated with the herd. I milk over 400 cows twice a

day through a 50 point rotary. I manage our contract foot

trimmer and trim lame cows in between visits, I run the vet visits

and fertility routines (and do all AI myself). I have taken to

mastitis levels from 35 cases per hundred to 5. I have reduced

lameness from 30% score 2 and 3 to bellow 10%, this is through

protocol change and more regular trimming. The cows are

currently averaging 37ltrs per day on 2x, with a fat level of 4-

4.2% on a feed rate of .37. Our calving index is 395 days and we

average 11500 + liters per cow. I have achieved all these things

whilst on an Marks and Spencer contract under the RSPCA

accreditation.
