An enthusiastic and hardworking first year BSc Agriculture Student at Harper Adams University looking for summer harvest work. I have a good understand of working with livestock, however have had little arable experience which I would like to gain.

Farming background

I am not from a typical farming background, however I have gained my interest from many of my extended family members who farm themselves and also work experience that I have completed in the past. My experience compared to other people is likely much less, however I am very willing to learn and try anything and I am able to work well by myself or as part of a team.

29th March 16th April 2021- Dairy Farm, Birmingham

Work on local dairy farm. Field operations in the form of rolling and fencing. Milking of cows and vaccination of calves.

10th 23rd March 2020 - Farm, Frankley, Birmingham

Lambing work placement with added beef stock work. Assisting with lambing when needed as well as constructing additional pens in buildings to accommodate for increase in flock size. Tail docking and numbering ewes/lambs before moving to different buildings on the farm. Bolusing ewes before being put out to graze. Cleaning pens after ewes were moved. Feeding both ewes and beef herd morning and evening. One day TB testing recording ear tag numbers etc.

29th January 9th March 2020 - Dairy Farm, Birmingham

Assisted the main milker with afternoon milking. Scraping collecting yard and stalls. Cleaning sickbay, dry cow, and calf pens as well as pens. Bedding up after with straw or sawdust. Dehorning/castrating calves and feeding morning and afternoon. Assisting with calving when required. Cleaning the parlour and other machinery. Changing tyres on tractor to wider ones for fertiliser spreading to be done by herdsman. Other less farming related jobs such as concreting in metal posts on a different site (Henley in Arden) after rusted bases were removed and new welded in place.

2016 - Year 10 Work experience Farm, Calne, Wiltshire

One week working on family friends farm as part of work experience at school Dairy and beef. Completed daily milking as well as fencing and setting up irrigation systems.
