Farming background

Worked at various Safari Parks and zoos. Relevant experience includes tractor operations on a near daily basis (emptying trailers, front loader use, topping, etc); breeding and rearing of many species (deer, camels, Ankole cattle, elephant) including hand rearing, tagging and microchipping; medicating and worming many species (orally, injections and pour on); record keeping (daily diarys, individual records, treatment sheets); animal feed ordering and diet changes; general maintenance of pasture, fences and barns; health and safety knowledge.

•Providing daily care of the animals in the section including record keeping and ZIMS entry, routine husbandry, feed preparation, observing, training, patrolling, medicating, exhibit maintenance, etc.

•Providing a high standard of guest satisfaction via immersive animal interactions i.e. giraffe and deer feeding; ensuring safe passage through animal reserves; responding and assisting with guest enquiries and complaints; participating in filming and live social media events; completing VIP experiences; ensuring enclosures, pathways and fences are safe and tidy; etc.

•The supervision of keeping staff including inductions, mentoring and training of new staff, ensuring company policies are adhered to, ensuring SOPs are followed, achieving high animal welfare and ensuring biosecurity is maintained at all times.
