Farming background

A vast array of experiences have been acquired over the last 12 years, working firstly for family on our own 1300ac beef/arable unit during summer holidays.

Since the above time I have travelled to New Zealand and worked for a contractor doing tasks such as direct drilling and bale wrapping in both the UK and NZ. I am currently working on a 2000ac operation where I am responsible for all crop spraying using a JD 954 powrspray 30m as well as cultivations and grain hauling using JD modern machinery and full Greensted GPS operating systems. As part of the arrangement I also work during 4 months of the winter on a local dairy where I undertake the feeding and basic upkeep of around 700 dairy cattle and followers. This includes Keenan tmr feeding and feeding out wintered stock.

I have acquired good general farm work skills over the years and have a passion for arable farming and a keen interest in particularly beef and sheep husbandry.

I also took a year out of farming and worked as a butcher in my family's own farm shop. This was beneficial to my farming knowledge as it helped me understand livestock supply chains as a customer of the farmer.
