During my time self employed I carried out a lot of different types of fencing

(stock and wooden, ranging from small gardens to out

on the hill). I also undertook small joinery jobs like

constructing bin stores, dog kennels and a shed

extension.

I have had a very strong interest in sheep and

shepherding since a young age. I grew up helping out

where I could with my family's flocks and at fourteen I

got my first sheep. I have continued to run and grown

my own small flock. During my time self employed I spent two lambing

seasons doing contract lambing. The first year I was

in Cumbria lambing 500 Texel x mule ewes inside.

The second year I was lambing on Rhynaclach Farm

which was a mix of indoor and outdoor lambing. This

was followed by hill lambing where I was working

independently for a local sheep stock club back home

in Skye. As well as lambing and gathering I was involved with

all other aspects of sheep work, dipping, dosing and

jagging, ringing and marking and shearing.
