Farming background

I've been involved in the agricultural industry all my life and have been driving tractors and working with animals from a very young age. I've been doing a variety of farm and tractor work over the years and over the last few years I've come to realise that animals aren't my type of wok and I have much more interest in driving tractors and machinery as well as looking after them

2017-2020. I started working on a 290 head dairy farm when I was 13 years old and had worked there for over 3 years, during that time I have been doing a variety of farm work including milking, looking after livestock and fencing. I have also been doing a lot of tractor and telehandler work mainly with a Massey Ferguson tractor and a JCB tm310 telehandler, including dump trailer work, carting bales, carrying livestock, rolling, silage carting, feeding stock with TMR, tedding, fertiliser spreading with GPS. I was also carrying out maintenance tasks on the machinery making sure they were in good working order and ready for the task ahead. Over the 3 years I have worked on this farm I have gained a lot of experience in operating tractors, telehandlers and machinery as well as looking after them.

2015-present. I have been doing a lot of work on our 180 acre farm at home since we moved here, farming 500 sheep and rearing 100 heifers all year round. I have been doing stock work looking after the livestock as well as feeding them. due to us not depending on contractors to do our work we do most of tractor work ourselves. I do most of the tractor and machinery work at home with a Massey Ferguson tractor and a wide range of machinery brands including dump trailer work, fertiliser spreading with GPS, carting and stacking bales, wrapping bales, mowing, topping, tedding, raking, rolling, cultivating and fencing etc. I also do a lot of repair and maintenance work on machinery at home in our workshop and I do most of the welding from fixing machinery to building projects of my own.

I haven't worked on farms outside of my country yet as I'm young and have only recently passed my car test. But now that I'm able to drive I believe I want to go out there to work on arable farms as there aren't any from my area and that's the type of place I'm looking to work due to my passion for driving tractors and operating machinery. This summer will be a great opportunity for me to get work and gain more experience within this fantastic industry.
