As a student I spent over year on a large 2000acre mixed farm in West Tisted Hamphire.

Then I managed the family farm in East Sussex.

I had a 140 sow pig unit finishing to cutter weight, this was given up in the mid 90's replaced with a 70 mule and 200 Suffolk x mule sheep flock. Lambing the Suffolk Mules (crossed with a Texel ram) in January and the remainder in April (crossed with a Suffolk ram) Early lambs finished indoors the remainder to grass. All supplied to Waitrose.

There was also a 35 head single suckler herd, mainly Belgium Blue x Friesians and Simmental x Friesians, these were put to to a Limousin bull.

In 2010 these were replaced by a neighbouring farmers 80 plus dairy heifers, which I was responsible for all the day to day management.
