I undertook my apprenticeship on a 300 acre mixed farm that also contract farms a further 500 arable acres.

I have gained experience in cultivating, rolling, slug pelleting, grain hauling and grain drying, mowing, tedding and raking, bale hauling and digger work.

I have also gained experience in potato and maize hauling on a freelance basis.

Other livestock experience

I have worked on a mixed farm with a flock of 300 commercial ewes, 50 pure bread Texel herd and store lambs. We also house 60 head of store cattle over winter.

I was involved in all aspects of sheep management including vaccinating and injecting, drenching, foot trimming etc.

I am a confident shepherd having been involved in lambing for several years and was given the responsibility of solo night lambing this year.

I am an active member of Young Farmers; representing my club Eardisley, I took part in the National entertainments competition in 2019 which we won and was also part of the GENSB tug of war team which won the championship in 2018 and 2019. I also compete in tug of war for Hay on Wye and enjoy playing rugby where my team were North Midlands Cup and league winners in 2019. I am also a keen game shooter.
