Farmhand and conservation worker looking for work with small stock and countryside management
MSc, City and Guilds
Mainly Livestock, Mixed Farming
Full Car Licence, Tractor Licence
Goat, Sheep, Lambing
To date I have mainly used hand tools for conservation and hedge laying work. However, I recently did training courses in tractor driving and using a brush cutter. I have also experience with a Prattley mobile system.
This year have gained experience with local shepherd, first helping with outdoor lambing and since then helping with seasonal jobs such as drenching, spraying and foot trimming. I have a little experience with indoor lambing and general sheep work with other farms.
For nearly three years I have worked weekends at a dairy goat farm. This has given me skills and experience more with the housed livestock side of things, such as bedding and feeding, assisting with kidding and illness, and experimenting with enrichment for animal welfare.
2018-2030: weekend volunteer and assistant stock person on a goat farm.
2020: occasional shepherd assistant on an Estate.
2019-2020: work experience and volunteering in hedge laying, hand coppicing and scrub and fencing management.
Start: 26/11/2020 Finish: Not Specified
In the short term, within driving distance of south Oxfordshire. In the long term, flexible. I would love to work for a farm or contractor where I can help with small stock and land management. I am really interested in grassland management and ruminant nutrition so if there were an opportunity to get involved there and improve my tractor skills it would be great.
