Farming background

I was previously the assistant farm manager at a small 256 acre arable farm in Kent with most of the farm concentrating on supplying our on site farm shop as well as our popular PYO. We also supplied produce to local markets as a means to gain some extra income. My responsibilities were mostly retail based but i gained experience planting and harvesting during that time. From there i moved to a small 50 acre farm in Worcester which gave me the opportunity to hone my skills and expand my knowledge. Although smaller, the farm had a larger variety of crops as well as apple, pear and plum orchards which gave me experience working with not only brassicas, root vegetables and potatoes but also top fruit. I left Worcester after being offered the opportunity to work for a large herb farm in Norfolk working approx 1000 acres herbs and 1000 acres combinable crops. My responsibilities were harvesting the herbs and transporting them from field to drier. I would also work as the drier operator focusing on loading the driers and overseeing the production process.
