Farming background

Now 2020: On a 1000 cow dairy with rotary doing at least one milking a day as all ai and fertility work. This farm uses GEA collars to help to find the corrected bulling cow .Using uniform to record all details on the herd health this farm calves all year around .I'm working closes with Semex to help to choose the right bull to stop interbreeding and to find the best cows to suit the indoor system they use here also well looking at improving teats and milk yield.

June 2015 -November 2020

this was a 320 organic herd this was in a 24/48 swing over here I stared as a herdsperson the in later years was put to herd manager. In this time I was milking twice a day in a two man team and then feeding, scaping and bedding when needed. making all the main decision in the parlour i.e. treating cows and not here we was using a vet trail and i was growing the mastitis to see if it needed treating or weather it was safe to leave for it to clear it self as well as making sure other staff was doing the job set to the right stander. Foot trimming the cows that had problems as there was a retain foot trimer here . this involved calving responsibilities and night checks. The farm used Dairymaster and uniform using the programs I was able to drafted out cow for the vet or foot trimming and see who would need to be dried off .

November 2013 -June 2015

I was a herdsperson on a 500 cow unit . the parlour was a 40 point rotary here I milked twice a day. Calved cows and treated and problem like milk fever .

oct 2012 -oct 2013

herdsperson on a 40 cow unit milking twice a day through a herringbone . Here I done some of the herd health stuff like basic foot trimming ,spotting bulling cow with the e aid of tail paint and again cow calving . giving the calves colostrum and calving night checks

New Zealand i was on a 900 cow here my job role was assistant dairy farm manager .
