My name is Aleysha. I am currently a dairy farmer, milking 1100 sheep in Dorset. Previous to this job, I worked out in Canada, farming on two different mixed sheep/beef/arable farms in British Columbia. I would further like to build my skills in all aspects of livestock and crop management.

I finished my Level 3 qualification in Animal Management in 2018, at Distinction Level. Throughout the course, we worked with a variety of different farm animals including sheep, goats and donkeys on a daily basis during routines. On the theory side of the course, I completed a variety of modules where I learnt about the husbandry, health and welfare needs several animal species. These modules included veterinary nursing, breeding and genetics, microbiology and biochemistry etc.
After college, I moved to the Isle of Wight where I worked/lived on a sheep and beef farm. We had 540 Scottish mules and approximately 25 Hereford Cattle. During my time on the farm, i got to experience a variety of jobs including two lambing seasons, worming, crutching. sheering, calving, fencing etc. Also everyday tasks such as bedding up, feeding etc.
I travelled in Canada in 2020, where I worked on two sheep farms.
I am currently working on a large sheep dairy where we milk 1100 sheep twice a day.
