My responsibilities were to help with early morning and late milking procedures for 400+ cows, calf rearing & administering medical treatments, helped within the bottling unit for milk, cream and butter, basic record keeping and general yard management. I was responsible for the running of the parlour on a Monday.

As well as doing all of this I used to assist customers in the on site shop asking any questions and helping them with what they needed, doing my best to ensure they had the best experience possible.
YOUNG FARMER

My responsibilities were to look after the various Animals within the farm, this included feeding, grooming, and keeping the areas clean and tidy. I have also been part of the show team at the Kent County Show and various other cattle shows.
GENERAL FARM WORKER ROLE

My responsibilities here were to go out on the daily checks of the cows, sheep and pigs as well as feeding, here I was given the chance to work with more tractors (John Deere) Doing topping and flat rolling. I assisted with the lambing and shearing also.

Im currently caring for around 300 sheep as well as 400 lambs that will be going through the on site butchers, each week I pick out the lambs that are good enough for the butchers. My daily tasks are to deal with any issue with the sheep, treating the sick, feeding and checks. Ive completed the rams MOTs selected out all the cull ewes to go, worming, foot trimming and mineral drenching. With the cattle I do the worming, picking out for the butchers each week, feeding and daily checks. Working with the livestock Ive gained skills such as fencing, fixing water troughs and pipes, keeping medical records up to date and using farm machinery as well as being able to work alone and in a team.
SHOP WORK-
As this farm also has an on site shop I have gained customer service skills to ensure the best experience and to keep customers returning, assisting customers promptly and to the best of my knowledge.

Arable farm-
My responsibilities here were to assist in running the grain stores (grain testing, using the fan systems, pushing up grain, cleaning stores, moisture testing) I also did the tractor work such as Grain carting for 2 seasons, rolling, hedge cutting, stubble raking and other general field jobs. I did general yard maintenance such as fencing, tidying, unloading/loading lorries, taking deliverys, running recycling around, loading trailers and helping renovate buildings. I also ran my own flock of sheep on the side during this job and did another season of lambing my own and a neighbouring farm.
This farm also had a Game shoot though I did not have a whole lot to do with it I did assist in getting the pens ready, strimming and during the shooting season I helped with beating and towing the guns/beaters around in the trailers.
I gained my Tele-handler license and PA1 certification.
