Started off at home working on our beef farm with also a small flock of sheep, I have over the past 10 years been working as an assistant/ herd manager. I originally got the bug for dairy while I studied at Bicton college in my early teens and was shortly taken on as the assistant herdsman for 4 years. After Bicton I moved to Velcourt where I started out as the assistant herdsman but quickly was given the role as herd manager where I carried on working for a further 5 years. After nearly 10 years in dairy I decided to take a few months out where I was then offered a temporary stand in herdsman position for 6 months. After this position I then managed a few months away back home in Devon helping out on the family beef farm. While back at home I was offered an assistant managers position on an 1000 spring calving on an estate in Gloucester. I'm currently now herd/farm manager on a 200 cow spring calving herd in Monmouthshire where my partner and I run the farm together. Due to the farm owners want to retire we are looking for new opportunities.
