Farming background

I started my farming career in 2009 after leaving Askham Bryan College, I then started an apprenticeship on a arable farm with 120ha of potatos and 250ha of combinable crops. I quickly worked through the ranks soon becoming head tractor driver with my duties including drilling, bed forming, ploughing, cultivations, irrigation and relief combine driving. I then worked for an agriculture engineer learning valuable skills such as welding and fabrication work along with all aspects on machinery maintenance. For the last nearly 5 years I have worked for a large agricultural contractor as the forklift operator wrapping approximately 12000 bales a year, clamp and loading muck. My other duties throughout the year including drilling, ploughing, cultivations, fertiliser spreading, square baling and operating a forage wagon. Making sure the job is always completed to high standard and attention to detail, using initiative and making decisions when needed. Help with day to day running and organisation in busy times require good recorded keeping and also make me want to further my career in agriculture to a more managerial role whilst still taking care of the minor jobs as farming is a passion on mine and not just a career. Time served for a ground works company completing all aspects
