Farmer's daughter born in Dunster, Somerset. I farmed in partnership with my father and later took on the Crown Estate tenancy of the 200-acre intensive dairy farm.

In 1996 I relocated all my stock to a 550-acre holding in Wiltshire where I was dairy, beef and arable farming for 20 years.

Qualifications & Experience:

City & Guilds phase 1 to 4 in dairy, beef, grassland, enterprise and business management, craftsman certificate.

Daily maintenance of on-farm manual recording to completion of electronic recording. Able to review performance data and then be able to monitor and act upon data created.

Preparing documents for internal auditing for policy and protocol reviews.

Preparation for whole farm assessments. Recording daily and monthly documents for annual inspections.

Hosting farm assurance inspections on my tenant farm in Marlborough for the dairy, beef and arable enterprises.

Two years experience on a vast organic farm in Wiltshire, working as young stock manager for Soil Association CEO, with 1500 animals under my control. My work included hosting farm assurance inspections with Soil Association and Red Tractor.

Runner up apprentice of the year in 1984.

Work History:

1981 - 1990 Working on the family Dairy farm.

1990 - 2016. Crown Estate tenant, breeding and milking 140 pedigree Holstein Friesian cows, with full management of accounts, farm assurance and welfare.

1996 to 2016 - Beef - 80 suckler cows, store and finishing cattle.

1996 to 2016 - Arable experience growing 400 acres of combinable crops, wheat, barley, OSR for feed and milling.

1998 - 2003. Contract calf-rearing for five years with Mid-West Calves, batch rearing from seven days to three months.

2016 - 2019. Lambing 450 ewes for two years increasing to 1,270 Exmoor horn and Scotch mules indoors, with a further 450 ewes in April on an outdoor/ indoor system. Income supplemented with hotel, bar and restaurant work.

2019 2021 (2years) Managed a dairy and beef young stock enterprises on block calving Spring and Autumn herds of organic Friesian cows. Responsible for day old calves through to two-year-old heifer replacement or finished beef.

Working with the marketing team on all aspects of selecting and arranging beef animals for slaughter on a weekly basis. Daily management of all cattle to include grazing management, winter feeding, weighing, vaccinations and worm control programmes, dehorning, castration and vet visits. Co-ordinating staff for TB testing, moving cattle and other larger jobs.

2022 Currently working as an Auditor for Red Tractor where my area is 50-mile radius of Wheddon Cross. I specialise in Dairy, Beef and Lamb and have completed my rigorous practical and theory training, with the new set of standards released on 1st November over the winter months.

Worked in local village shop for 6 months which included adding stock onto the computer system, re-stocking shelves, serving customers, opening and closing shop and adding daily newspapers and magazines onto computer.

Professional dog-handler and picker-up on commercial game shoots for many years.
