Tractor, Telehandler/Fork Lift, Fencing

Tractors over 200hp, mostly New Holland. 14 tonne silage trailers, 2500 gallon tankers, pivot steer and rigid telehandlers, skidsteers, both
Keenan and tub style mixer wagons. Workshop experience including basic maintenance,
welding and minor mechanical repairs. Experience stacking bales and carting grain. I have also spent time working for a fencing contractor using both tractor and 360 mounted chappers and quick fencers.
1 year as full time shepherd on a small estate, running 700 ewes, 500 Aberfield-cross ewes on low ground and 200 hill blackies. In this job I gained experience finishing lambs to the required specification using only forage crops and licks, without the need for creep or other concentrates. I also gained valuable clipping experience.
My role also included working with 200 Stabiliser suckler cows and assisting with the arable operation.
3 years working with large dairy herds, 300 and 180 cows, milking both through a parlour and with robotic milkers. Having generally stuck the
livestock work rather than machinery, I have lots of experience calving cows,
rearing calves, foot trimming,
medicine administration and general husbandry.
My background encompasses most aspects of rural work, from intensive dairy operations to extensive sheep operations, fencing, stalking and working horses. I think this wide range of experience stands me in good stead for most farming jobs, as it means I am not only experienced with the work involved, but in dealing with a wide range of situations and working effectively with a team to get jobs done efficiently and well.
