In 2009 I had an opportunity to rent a farm in Dumfries area. It had 1300 sheep and 30 cows. It was an opporuntiy of a lifetime but we struggled with the huge financial burden. During this time I still had my contract shearing business.

Originally from N Ireland, I always wanted to be in Scotland in the farming industry My wife and I moved to Scotland in 2002 to be a shepherd, to manage a flock of 3000 sheep and 120 cows. We then moved to for more opportunities. I looked after 1200 sheep and it was here where I set up my own shearing and fencing business.
