Farming background

Born and raised on a sheep and beef farm, started working with sheep from an early age. Numerous lambing jobs and general sheep work. Anca sheep management course in Northumberland. First full time job of 7years (April 2006 - May 2013) Alnwick. I was responsible for looking after 750 breeding ewes and replacements consisting of Blackface, Mule, Suffolk x, Texel x and pedigree blue head Leicesters lambing outdoors from April 1st. Assisting with herd of 50 sucklers and tractor work as required. Finishing all lambs at home selling liveweight and cattle sold as forward stores through Wooler mart. (June 2013-October 2019) Duns. Caring for 1400 llyen and pedigree texel ewes plus replacements lambing small flock of texel indoors from. 25th March and llyen ewes outdoors with assistance from 25th April. Assisting with herd of 200 sucklers and tractor work as required. All lambs finished on farm and sold deadweight through Farm stock calves sold as stores through Stirling and St Boswells marts. (November 2018 - May 2019) Aberdeenshire. Responsible for a 1200 ewe flock of blackface ewes run as a tick mop on a grouse moor and 1300 crossbreed ewes on better grazing. Blackface lambs sold as stores through Thainstone Mart and crossbreed lambs finished on farm and sold live weight through Thainstone and dead weight to scot beef. Blackface ewes all lambed outside and crossbred ewes lambed indoors in batches. Numerous days helping my father with a flock of 500 Blackface ewes starting from an early age.
