Farming background

I have run my own tree surgery and fencing company for the last two years, but have decided to chase my dream and try and get into farming. I worked on a farm in New Zealand for a few weeks during my gap year. It was mainly a sheep farm, with some cattle and pigs. Whilst there I spent most of the time working with the sheep, helping with shearing, Drenching 500 sheep and helping move the sheep around the farm. For the last four Springs I have worked on a small sheep farm on top of the North York Moors for lambing. They have 300 head of sheep that lamb over a 2 and a half week period. Whilst working here I worked during the day and then alternated night shifts. My duties included helping lambing the ewes that had difficulties, feeding the pet lambs as well as feeding, watering and bedding all the new mothers and lambs in the sheds each morning.
