Other livestock experience

From an early age working with my father on the farm with pedigree cattle selling bulls to 9000gns at Stirling February bull sales. The farm also breeds Beltex Tups selling to a top of £1200 at Kelso ram sales.

I then moved to a large farming business carrying 10000 breeding ewes. The farm I was based on ran 2000 breeding ewes and 50 cows.

In my current role Im shepherding 700 ewes being in charge of all day to day management of the ewes. Due to a change in farming practices all ewes are being sold

I own a small flock of pure Texels competing in local shows bring home a selection of tickets

Farming background

I studied and Borders college for two years. I have also done lambing away from home and worked for a local contractor with silage and harvest work. I gained experience I have had is of the farm with my father. I have also gained a lot of experience from listing to others with more experience than me. I have also had a weeks work experience when I was still at school. I worked as shepherd for a large scale farming operation with 10000 ewes spilt over 10 units in the Scottish Borders. I am currently shepherd over 700ewes in the borders
