i was raised in the country and so naturally have a strong tie to it, Ever since a young age i have always gone out shooting, hunting and fishing which i hope to continue to do for the foreseeable future. i also enjoy off- roading and have been a member of YFC for several years now
personal: 6 ft tall, 11 stone in weight, medium build personality: Being a keen individual with a strong interest in the dairy industry, I am good at working both on my own and as part of a team and have a decent amount of experience in all aspects of dairy farming. I would say I have a sensible head on my shoulders and am able to adjust and adapt to individual situations. I also have a good sense of humour and a calm approach to things which personally I think is essential in a land based career.
On the 12th of may 2006 i was out shooting alone with my spaniel when i had a fairly serious accident. i was walking down a hedge which i put my spaniel into to work out, unknown to me after i had walked on she came back out of the hedge and down it behind me and straight through my legs, as a result i dropped my gun which discharged across my foot resulting in me losing my toes. i would like to make clear that due to it being such a long time ago and the fact that after my accident in the may i went back to work in the September what happened no longer affects my ability to work and aside from a very mild limp i am completely recovered
My family do not own a farm but we have lived in a small farming community and since i was young we have had several family friends who farm locally and so growing up around farming naturally sparked an interest in it. when i was 13 i got my first job on a dairy farm, starting out with the small jobs such as feeding calves and helping out with all the little things and gradually moving up onto more important jobs such as milking, field work, scraping up etc etc. this was not full time though and so allowed me time to work on other farms local to me and gain good experience of the different ways and methods in which things can be done
