Milked cows for 10+ years alongside sheep work but once cows got sold concentrated on the sheep. Have lambed indoors and outdoors single handed and also as part of a team. Was solely responsible for approximately 1000 ewes that lambed outside for a number of years. Alongside with some calf rearing, cattle feeding and sheep dipping. Am a good record keeper and understand the importance of this. And can communicate back to team/management.

Enjoy my collies and training I also enjoy watching trials havent been bold enough to compete but can learn a lot from spectating. Have also got my own sheep which I realise may have to be sold if dont fit with new job but enjoy having my own and also gives me a good insight into the costs and the paperwork and management. If I have any spare time I enjoy getting to the coast and finding a nice quiet spot.

2023 to date

Currently working with approx 1200 ewes across 3 farms that lamb from January indoors to march outdoors. Do all the sheep work and also do a bit with beef cattle fattening stores and some sucklers.

2019-2023 I was responsible for approx 1000 sheep across 2 farms with the addition of a few 100 Welsh ewes every autumn to lamb. In this position the farmer was on one farm and I was on the other and was fully responsible for that farm and reporting back to farmer.

Previous to this was part time for the above farmer alongside various other work either sheep work and lambing for various local farms some relief milking and also a bit of horse work.

2002-2013

Was milking and calf rearing pedigree Holsteins alongside some local sheep work. Also did some milk recording.

Previously to this had mainly worked in the horse industry but always not been able to help myself but get involved in and sheep work that was about.
