For 5 years I worked closely with a small 4 person team on a 300 cow organic, spring block calving dairy farm. The farm supplies milk to

OMSCO and is on a PWAB system so during my time there I ensured cow health, welfare and the use of preventative measures were my top priority due to being unable to use antibiotics. I spent most of my time with the milking cows, managing their grazing through plate metering

and grazing plans, monitoring overall health and welfare and putting them through the parlour twice a day. I also assisted in the rearing of

the calves from birth to weaning, feeding them on whole milk twice a day up to 8 weeks and then once a day up until weaning at 12 weeks.

In 2023 I relocated to Scotland where I have been involved In different aspects of seasonal farm work, gaining experience in new areas including relief milking and artificial insemination, alongside an ongoing role assisting the stockman on an estate with a focus on beef cows. This role includes assisting with calving, weaning and general cow husbandry.
