Spent almost a year in north wales working on an upland estate managing a flock of 2000 Welsh-hill mountain and cheviot Ewes and 75 welsh black cattle. During that time I gained skills in lambing and care for baby lambs. treatment of mature lambs, ewes, and tups. I also experienced calving and learned the basics of calf care.

I do not have a large amount of experience using a sheepdog nor shearing but would be keen to learn both. I do have some experience tailing Ewes and lambs though.

Farming background

From April 2023 to February 2024 I worked at two farms in north wales. One an RSPB managed farm mixing conservation and farming goals, and the other a production focused livestock farm keeping beef cattle and sheep. The second was a group of 4 farms each managed by one brother with a mix of upland and lowland. There we kept a mix of Welsh hill-mountain, Cheviot, Beltex, Blue-face leicester and some of breeds of sheep and a variety of cattle breeds for beef.

At RSPB lake Vyrnwy the cattle were out of summer but wintered in the shed but at Tyn-y-Garreg the cattle were in year round.
