May 2022 Present Herdsman, the Farm is a dairy unit consisting of just over 100 mixed dairy and beef cattle and 300 acres of grassland. Day to day I milk 90 cows twice a day in a 14/24 swing over parlour. I have to manage the herds health and I can administer vaccinations, medication and able to carry out foot-trimming. The herd is all year calving with roughly 60-70 calves born a year. As part of my role I help with rearing replacement heifer calves which consists of colostrum management and excellent hygiene and welfare. Other responsibilities include operating machinery, yard duties and grassland management. September 2016 May 2022 Farm Worker, a dairy unit consisting of 300 cattle and 600 acres of grassland. My roles consisted of milking twice per day in a 20/20 Herringbone parlour. I was also responsible for the herds health, administering medication and vaccines when necessary. The herd was all year-round calving, with 90-100 calves being born yearly. As part of my role, I helped with rearing replacement heifer calves which consists of colostrum management and excellent hygiene and welfare.
