Farming background

Experience

From School 05 to 2012: England carpentry - From school I trained as an apprentice carpenter, my ambition was to work in agriculture, but unfortunately the chance was quickly lost due to family selling land due to unforeseen circumstances. So as stated I trained as a carpenter on domestic building sites. I acquired skills such as first and second fix carpentry, roofing, timber framing and final fixing. To earn extra money I used to work weekends on a small mixed farm, involving machine works, grassland maintenance and livestock husbandry.

2012 to 2017: Self Employed, I become self-sufficient, trading on my own as a sole trader. My experience quickly expanded into barn conversions, timber farm structures, stables and other equine contracts. Weekend work on the mixed farm has now changed from every Saturday, to Saturday, Sunday and the odd day in the week, I was quickly learning more and more about rearing calves, how to care for sheep and poultry.

2016 Present: Self Employed have completely left Carpentry and now am working as a agricultural contractor , My job roles consist of livestock husbandry / stockman, Machine work of all types, and I am also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of machinery, repairs of any equipment and regularly make use of workshops to fabricate, weld, or fix mechanical driven components. As a contractor on various farms, I was issued with long term contracts of which I would become the 1st workshop man.

Much more recently I have acquired the lease of land of which I keep for my own small Hereford and angus beef herd, vegetable crops, and furthermore another large parcel of which I recently had sheep (Welsh Cheviots) grazing.
