Job for Assistant Herdsperson in <->Jersey<-> for our 200 Pedigree Jersey herd

We are seeking the right person to become a permanent part of our close knit team as a herdsperson. You will be working as part of a two-person team looking after all aspects of the health and well being of our dairy herd. The primary responsibility within the job will be the care of our young animals from birth to calving at 2 years of age, alongside miking twice daily, feeding, cleaning, and some basic tractor work. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be given but a genuine love of animals and commitment to their well-being is essential. The right applicant must also be observant, enthusiastic, a good communicator and team player. Our current herdman who you will be working alongside  is Romanian and is a very out going, laid back, sociable person. The rest of the team at Woodlands made up of 3 Polish general farm workers/drivers and one mechanic. We are a family run business. 

We have a 200 pedigree Jersey herd milking through a modern 14/28 swingover parlour. We strive for the highest possible milk quality and herd health through continuous herd monitoring of SCC, condition scoring, mobility scoring etc. There is a certain amount of flexibility within the role depending on the candidate, with pay and time of negotiable.
