Keen to gain operating and maintenance experience of hi-tech agricultural machinery / systems (especially forage and combine harvesters). Can work individually or as part of a small practical team that 'makes things happen'. It was a long time ago but I was Student of the Year at Agricultural college in 1998!

My priority is the family, though I have interest and experience in DIY (Bricklaying, joinery, plumbing & property restoration) having completed a loft conversion on my own house and been instrumental in starting a Handyman business. I have a strong Christian faith and am involved with a local church (Small group leader, sound desk and projection, children's and youth work) Outdoor pursuits and hockey are sporting interests I have been active in though a young family has restricted this in recent years. General 'farm' business is an interest, especially rural property development, drones and precision farming.
5'10", 13 stone, greying but with a full head of hair! Quietly confident with a good sense of humour. Learns best from initial demonstration and intruction before being left to get on with it. Proud of my work and always looking for practical ways and means of improving systems of work. Most satisfied when there is visible, practical results from a day's work.

Grew up on family farm in East Sussex where beef, sheep and arable were the main enterprises. Uncles and a grandfather also had Dairy farms which I would visit and help at. I would work with my father and in my teenage years a local agricultural contractor during the hay / silage / harvest season. After A-levels I went to Canada to gain work experience with a small independent crop trials company visiting sites across Manitoba, Saskatchewan & Alberta. Whilst at Uni 2 summers were spent working on a neighbouring arable farm assiting with the harvest and autumn cultivations. After Uni I completed a course at agricultural college which taught how to strip, repair and maintain agicultural machinery, including combustion engines. We were also taught several methods of welding. I then spent a harvest season with a larger Agricutural contractor in West Sussex before returning to North East where I have been working with Mechanical Engineering companies for the last 20 years - offshoots from Agricultural engineering - designing and manufacturing bespoke ploughing and trenching machinery (with onboard electrical, hydraulic and control systems) for remote subsea use, which involved commissioning at site (sometimes abroad) and working with demanding clients.
