Farming background

From a young age I worked on farms at weekends and holidays. On leaving school I worked on farms for 2 years before doing a 3 year National Diploma in Agriculture with mechanisation bias at Plumpton Agricultural College, East Sussex. Post college I was invited to return to work for the farm where I completed my sandwich year. This was 1000 acres of combinable crops, where I became responsible for ploughing (JD4755 and 6 furrow reversible), cultivation, drilling (6 metre pneumatic Accord), spraying, and combining (JD1188H4). Other tasks included hedge cutting, coppicing and chainsaw operation, grain store operation, telescopic forklift and loader work. I always carry out all tasks to the best of my ability, with a smile on my face. I enjoy working with others, and I have a tendency to motivate those around me. I also work happily alone. I have recently returned to agriculture following a business career.
